Comedy, Outlook, Culture, Podcasts

This week I sit down with Gigi, to talk about comedy, native identity, and kicking ass on stage and on skates.

Gigi Modrich is a small town girl trying to make a living in the big city. Indian law practitioner by day, comedienne and roller derby queen by night. Real life Indian day and night. When she’s not hitting women on the track as Nasty Pelosi, she’s hitting mics in Virginia, DC, Maryland, and New York working to make a name for herself on the comedy scene. She's performed at Dangerfield's Comedy Club in NYC, the DC Improv, Drafthouse Comedy Theatre in DC, The Big Hunt with Underground Comedy, Town Tavern with Capital Laughs, and many other places throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. She's also told jokes in Orlando, Florida, Albuquerque, NM, and every shower she's ever been in. She’s sarcastically optimistic and aspires to make you laugh so hard your drink comes out your nose.

Catch her on October 27, 2017 at Broadway Comedy Club in New York City, NY for the Pussy Galore Equal Means Equal Comedy Benefit. Tickets available here.

You can also find her on the main stage at the Funny Bone Comedy Club Restaurant in Richmond, VA on November 29, 2017.

Connect with her on Instagram @gigimodrich.

Presence, Politics, Performing, Podcasts

This week I sit down with Scott, to talk about acting, politics, and performing on stage and in office.

Still not knowing what he wants to be when he grows up, Scott Brown’s professional life has taken him on many great adventures. He is a professional actor and company member with Synetic Theater, small business owner in Information Technology, filmmaker, White House historian (according to the History Channel), professional mascot and an activist, just to name a few. Scott’s resume is beyond random and he hopes to keep it that way. Depending on the day, you can find Scott running around DC, Maryland and Virginia wearing either a silly costume, a business suit, or with his video camera.

Check out some of Scott’s filmmaking on Facebook or follow him on Twitter .

Here, you can find a review of The Mark of Cain.

Film, Ghana, Futures, Podcasts

This week I sit down with Wilhelm, to talk about making film, the future of media in Ghana, and keeping a foot in two worlds.

Wilhelm is a charming, young gentleman who like most people is going through life with no clue what the destination is. He threw caution to the wind and quit his somewhat lucrative IT career to follow his stupid passion to become a filmmaker. He spent the last two years, all Saturdays, pursuing a Masters in Producing at the prestigious American University in Washington, DC and finally got the validation he needed to prove to everyone else that he was serious about this filmmaking s***t.

Born and raised in Ghana, Wilhelm came to the US to avoid having to deal with his mother waking him at dawn each time to ask, “so are you really going to let the green-card expire?”. He is very passionate about going back to Ghana and contributing to the development of the film industry but mother says he must get his US citizenship first. Until then he works as an Assistant Editor/Office Manager and when he has sometime on his hands, he shoots award winning short documentaries. Wilhelm is on social media as well, even though he wonders why. If you have nothing better to do, you should follow him on twitter and instagram @wilhelmhesse_

This week I sit down with Chiara, to talk about design, baking, and how we make art.

Chiara is a DC based graphic designer who has somehow found a way to combine her background in design and advertising with her interests in politics and advocacy work. Chiara’s upbringing spanned from years in Italy to Arizona before becoming an east coaster. She still considers herself an Italian Arizonan more than anything else.

When she is not designing you can often find Chiara baking something slightly complicated but always delicious. Her love of baking is rooted in finding a unique outlet to cope with stress and anxiety. And definitely not her incessant need to please everyone by feeding them things. Her other interests span from endless hours of TV watching to typography to telling people how much she loves to drink water.

Chiara would like to thank her mother, her father, Joe Biden and Beyonce’s Lemonade for inspiring her to be compassionate person. This is part of Chiara’s acceptance speech should she ever win an Oscar. She has no plans to enter the film industry.

Chiara thinks she’s really funny, and you can follow Chiara on twitter and instagram @ChiarawithaK.
